caremiles App allows drivers of both EV and traditional vehicles to contribute to saving the planet
San Francisco, California – February 07, 2022. Caremiles Inc. today announced the launch of caremiles, a smartphone app that allows all drivers to join the movement to save the planet by becoming more aware of the climate impact of their cars and driving habits.
Cars and driving habits make up about one-fifth of all carbon emissions. And while there are resources available to calculate one’s carbon footprint, they are often too generalized, littered with jargon or too complex to turn into action. Caremiles leverages cutting edge technology, applied behavioral science principles and distinguished partners that are driving ground-breaking work in pursuit of a sustainable future. The results are presented to the user in simplified terms, shown as number of trees, thereby helping the user take meaningful action.
“Unlike COVID-19, there is no vaccine to protect against climate change. And the time to act is now, for each and every one of us. Global Climate Accord calls for urgent action to keep global temperatures to not rise beyond 1.5 degrees, and while I take my hat off to anyone who walks or rides their bicycle for commuting, cars – whether electric or traditional – will be part of our lives for the foreseeable future,” said Kashif Sohail, Founder and CEO of Caremiles Inc. “Real change will only take effect when we turn this into a daily social conversation, not a taboo or a distant concept left for activists and politicians. I work towards a day that we all understand our personal environmental impact as clearly as we understand our weight or height,” he concluded.
The caremiles app is dedicated to the mobility space and is available for download on the Apple App store and Google Play store, or from www.caremiles.app/download. It links securely to the car’s account/dashboard and uses connected car data to measure its environmental impact in simple terms: how many trees would be needed to offset the car’s climate impact. This one-time setup frees the user from manually tracking and entering their progress.
Then the App allows the user to mitigate this impact by planting trees in communities most desperate for help. Caremiles Inc. has partnered with Trees for the Future who has planted more than 200 million trees backed by a modern scientific approach called Garden Forests. For example, farmers look after trees and trees return the favor, providing a variety of sustainable food while restoring the environment.
The App also allows users to share progress with each other allowing for collective action of driving real change at scale. Upcoming features will allow drivers to save money on everyday car usage, get access to special rewards and promotions, and engage with like-minded drivers who care for the planet. All this in an environment that allows users to have fun while learning about their car and driving behavior. This “Pride versus Guilt” approach is inspired by the works of Schneider, Claudia R., et al. and published under, “The Influence of Anticipated Pride and Guilt on Pro-Environmental Decision Making.”
Over the past few months, the App has been undergoing rigorous testing by actual drivers, both EV and ICE (e.g. gas) car users. A very encouraging sign is for EV users to be pleasantly surprised by how much their everyday habits are already helping protect the planet. Nurturing this positive behavior and empowering them with insights is a key feature of caremiles App. It shows the EV users the number of trees their driving habits have ‘saved’. Caremiles Inc. will plant the same number of trees ‘saved’ by members on the member’s behalf, free of cost, so long as the vehicle data is read directly from the car and not self-reported.
“Its simple. Cars and driving behavior make up about one-fifth of all carbon emissions. And cars aren’t going away anytime soon. So before we expect billions of people to change behavior, we must first help them understand, measure and take action. Without this first step, we cannot build lasting habits.” {Kashif Sohail}

Summary blurb
The caremiles App is available to download in the US from http://www.caremiles.app/download. It helps the member:
1. Measure their car’s environmental impact in simple terms… how many trees would be needed to neutralize their car’s climate impact. Global Climate accord calls for urgent action to keep global temperatures to not rise beyond 1.5 degrees. See UN Secretary-General’s new global roadmap to secure net zero emissions by 2050. https://www.un.org/sites/un2.un.org/files/release_global_roadmap_press_release_3nov21.pdf
2. Mitigate their car’s environmental impact by planting trees in communities most desperate for help. Farmers look after trees and trees return the favor, providing a variety of sustainable food while restoring the environment.
3. Save the planet and enable a life-changing transition. Caremiles Inc. has partnered with Trees for the Future who has planted more than 200 million trees backed by a modern scientific approach called Garden Forests. See more at www.trees.org
4. Share with their friends so they too can start helping the planet.
5. Save money on everyday car usage and a lot more with upcoming features.
6. Have fun while learning about their car and driving behavior. This Pride vs Guilt approach is inspired by the works of Schneider, Claudia R., et al. “The Influence of Anticipated Pride and Guilt on Pro-Environmental Decision Making.” https://doi.org/10.1371/journal.pone.0188781
